Good morning! 


The AMC 10 & AMC 12 is being administered today, Wednesday February 17th during 1st Period & 2nd Period in the Media Center.  If you are signed up, please go there now as soon as the bell rings.




Attention students traveling to Spain with Ms. Dumaine next month: This is a reminder that we have a mandatory meeting scheduled for tonight at 6:00pm in E116. You and a parent MUST attend if you want to go on the trip.





Congratulations to the Women's Basketball team for advancing to the Semi finals in the Mid-State Conference Tournament with a solid win against Cummings.  The Jaguars will play Bartlett Yancey on Thursday Feb. 18 at Graham HS.  Go Jags!





Been wanting to go to the new movie theatre Silverspot?  The project Graduation fundraising committee is selling tickets at a discounted price to raise money for Project Graduation: A substance free, safe, and fun celebration for our seniors.  Tomorrow, Thursday February 18th Myles Miller and Lia Osborne will be taking the ticket reservations at lunch in front of the library.  Checks are not required on Thursday: just your name, contact info, and how many tickets you wish to buy.  Support project graduation and get a great discount on tickets!  Let your parents know too!





Announcing Carrboro High's 2016 Spring Musical: CHICAGO: 

Actors, Singers, Dancers, etc.  Open auditions for Carrboro High School's spring musical, CHICAGO, will be today, Wednesday, February 17th, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM in the Theater, with callbacks on Friday, February 19th.  Please complete the online audition form, prepare a 1-minute monologue, 16 bars of music, and dress for movement.  If you do not have a monologue or song, these will be provided for you.  All students are invited to participate.  No experience required!  Casting will be gender and color-blind.

Musicians  The meeting for all students interested in pit orchestra for the spring musical, CHICAGO, has been postponed to Friday, February 19th, during A Lunch in the Chorus room (C111). Please complete the online form if interested in pit.  All musicians are welcome to attend the interest meeting.

Students who attended the tech interest meeting should return all paperwork by this Friday, February 19th.  Please bring paperwork to the Theater office right inside the main doors of the auditorium.  If you are interested in being part of the tech team and did not attend the meeting there is still time to join!  Email Kmoorehead@chccs.k12.nc.us for more information or stop by the Theater office. 

Thinking about traveling to Nicaragua with us this summer? 19 people have committed to go which means we have only one more spot available. The time to act is now  before it is too late. There will be 2 DECA Meetings for all members but especially those scheduled to travel to Greensboro to compete in the Career Development Conference (or “CDC”). The meeting will be during lunch Thursday and Friday. We will discuss testing for the conference, how to prepare for the test, and how we will prepare for our presentations during the conference. Please make the proper arrangements to attend both meetings.



Juniors and Seniors, do you need Service Learning hours? Are you a good role model in making healthy decisions (i.e. do not use alcohol or other drugs)? See Sergeant Mayfield or Linda Karcher, Student Assistance Program Counselor, about participating in Mock Crash, a re-enactment of an impaired driving accident. Our potential dates are April 28th or April 29th. Today, tomorrow and Friday during lunch: buy your DANCE MARATHON tickets!! There will be free food and you can spend the night  of Feb. 20th dancing to support the UNC Pediatric Center.





Interested in going to the Dominican Republic after school is out in June? There will be a great cultural exchange and you will have a chance to connect with the community that CHS fundraised last year for the Water Project and the province where the Muralist are from.

Documentary screening tomorrow, Thursday, Feb 18th at Carrboro HS from 5-7pm in celebration of Black History Month.  Free for students. "PRINCE AMONG SLAVES" Prince Among Slaves is a documentary film about an African prince enslaved in America, whose remarkable story of hope during America’s early years presents lessons for today.


Good morning Carrboro High School, my name is . February is Black History Month. Throughout this month, we will honor a new generation of black leaders and black poets on the announcements. Each day, we will celebrate the legacy of black Americans through either the reading of a poem or of a brief bio of an inspirational black figure. 

Bree Newsome

On June 27, 2015, Bree Newsome, an African-American activist, was arrested for removing the Confederate Flag from South Carolina state grounds. By her doing so, it influenced South Carolina to permanently remove the Confederate Flag from state grounds on July 10, 2015.
