BRRRR! Hey Jags! Come join the Omnia (OM-NEE-UH) Productions for our Winter One-Acts, a collection of short plays that are acted, teched, directed, and produced solely by students! They will take place at 7:30 Thursday - Saturday, December 5th-7th in the Theater! $5 for students, $10 for adults, and free for CHCCS Faculty and Staff! Tickets can be purchased at jagtheatre.seatyourself.biz.  Can't wait to see you all there!!!

 

It's that time again: the CHS literary magazine, Jagged Lines, is accepting submissions for this year's publication. Send your short stories, poems, essays, photography, and visual artwork to CHSJaggedLines@gmail.com by December 20th. Please see Mr. Murchison with any questions.

The PowderPuff game has been rescheduled for Today at 5:30pm on the Football field.  Juniors vs. Sophomores at 5:30 and Seniors vs Freshmen at 6:15. The championship game will follow.  Please come out and support your class.

Student Announcements: November 15, 2019

We have an EXTRA SPECIAL announcement today. Last night was our annual CultureFest event and included the second annual Film Showcase. As a result of the audience voting, we have winners for our "Best in Show" from each category. From our first category, "Cultural Aspect," the winner is "CHS Goes to Med Deli" which was created by a group of students in the EL Department. From our second category, "Contemporary Issues," the winner is "The Invisible Genocide" which was created by a group of students in the Honors Global Cinema course. The Annual PowderPuff football game will be held Today on the Football field.  The Junior vs. Sophomore Class game starts at 5:30 and the Freshmen vs. Senior Class game starts at 6:15.  The Championship game will be held immediately afterwards. Please make plans to attend this exciting event and support your Class!


Senior powderpuff players can buy a shirt for $10 from Mrs. Cerda-Smith in E220 today.

NCTAP provides an apprenticeship program to prepare students for careers as mechanical engineer, machinist, and electricians. Students will be able to earn an Associate's Degree for free while working at a participating business. They are currently recruiting current juniors and seniors. An information session will be held on Tuesday, November 12 at 12:45 pm in the media center. Freshmen and sophomores may attend for future consideration. Please feel free to review www.nctap.org.

Jaguar Men's Soccer will host Thomasville in the 2nd Round of the State Playoffs on Saturday November 9 at 2:00pm. Admission is $7.00. Support your Jags!

It's time to start working on your submissions for the CultureFest Film Showcase. Please submit a short 2-3 minute video about an international current event or a cultural feature. Freshmen, this is a reminder for the Freshmen Academy CultureFest Video Submissions. Any freshmen wishing to participate should upload their "I am" video to the form in their first block's google classroom by 11:59 pm tonight, November 1st. All are encouraged to participate. If you need more information or have any questions, please contact one of your Freshmen Academy teachers. 


Application for the National Honor Society is due today. You must be a current Junior or Senior with a weighted GPA of 3.8 and have 60 Service Learning hours. Please note that having those two requirements does not guarantee admission. The application is online this year, and it must be submitted by 4:00 PM TODAY.

A representative from Ohio Wesleyan University will visit Carrboro High School Monday at 10:00am in the CIC..  To attend this visit please sign up in the CIC.


The 2nd annual Undocumented Youth Empowerment Summit will take place this Saturday,  November 2nd from 12-6 at the UNC Campus Y. Participants will learn about how to fund their college experience, interact with mentors, receive career guidance, participate in discussions about culture and heritage, and gain special insight about scholarships specifically created to help undocumented students. Scholarships represented include the Good Night Scholars program, the Park Scholarship, UndocuCarolina, and many more!  Get your free tickets here
