Student Announcements: November 1, 2019

Carrboro High School's annual CultureFest is coming up! This year's event will be held on Thursday, November 14th from 6:00pm-8:00pm, so mark your calendars now! More information is available on our school website!


It's time to start working on your submissions for the CultureFest Film Showcase. Please submit a short 2-3 minute video about an international current event or a cultural feature. Submissions are due to Mr. Fernandez-Schendt by Friday, November 8th. See the document linked in the email for more information or contact Mr. Fernandez-Schendt with questions.


Freshmen, this is a reminder for the Freshmen Academy CultureFest Video Submissions. Any freshmen wishing to participate should upload their "I am" video to the form in their first block's google classroom by 11:59 pm tonight, November 1st. All are encouraged to participate. If you need more information or have any questions, please contact one of your Freshmen Academy teachers. 


Application for the National Honor Society is due today. You must be a current Junior or Senior with a weighted GPA of 3.8 and have 60 Service Learning hours. Please note that having those two requirements does not guarantee admission. The application is online this year, and it must be submitted by 4:00 PM TODAY.

Your story matters, Jags.  It's time for you to write it! TODAY kicks off Nanorimo (Na-no-ry-mo).  The challenge is simple.  During the month of November, the National Novel Writing Month kicks off with a challenge to write 50,000 words in 30 days.  A kick-off interest meeting will be held in the Media Center today at LUNCH for all those who are interested! See Mr. Murchison or Mrs. Jayeola for more info.

 

A representative from Ohio Wesleyan University will visit Carrboro High School Monday at 10:00am in the CIC..  To attend this visit please sign up in the CIC.


The 2nd annual Undocumented Youth Empowerment Summit will take place this Saturday,  November 2nd from 12-6 at the UNC Campus Y. Participants will learn about how to fund their college experience, interact with mentors, receive career guidance, participate in discussions about culture and heritage, and gain special insight about scholarships specifically created to help undocumented students. Scholarships represented include the Good Night Scholars program, the Park Scholarship, UndocuCarolina, and many more!  Get your free tickets here
