Student announcements - Dec. 22, 2016

Good morning,

Tutoring is cancelled today, Thursday, December 22. See you when school starts in January!

Grab a snowflake, buy a necessity, help a Hurricane Matthew victim! This year students in 5th Period Marketing are collaborating with the SGA and the Red Cross Club to help the Hurricane Matthew victims. The “LIVE”GIVING TREE” AND ITEM COLLECTION CONTAINER will be located outside of the library from December 13th to December 22nd. There will be snowflake ornaments with needed supplies written on them that we are asking the people of Carrboro High School to purchase so that one more person in need smiles this holiday season. If there are any questions please contact Mrs. Francis room D212.

Winter Links has officially started! Winter Links is a yearly fundraiser put on by Student Government in order to spread holiday cheer around the CHS community. This year, the fundraiser will run from November 28th- December 22nd. Money will be collected during fourth period classes. This year, we are raising money for graduated CHS Karen refugee students to take a trip back to their homes in Thailand and Burma. The class who fundraises the most money wins a prize breakfast. Are you interested in learning from recent Carrboro High School graduates about the "real deal" regarding college, Gap Year, Careers and life after high school?
We invite you to join us on Wednesday, December 21st, from 12:15-1:00PM, in Room C117 (Band Room).   The Counseling Department will be providing lunch so please RSVP by emailing Ms. Bari Sholomon at bsholomon@chccs.k12.nc.us so we can provide enough food.

"Want to make someone’s holiday season special? Send them a CandyGram!! NHS is hosting a candy gram sale during lunch where students can send candy canes with a written message to another student in the school for just 1$!!

For students interested in going to Ecuador this summer, there is an important meeting for parents TONIGHT in room D214 at 6pm. If you want to go, you need to convince your parents. There has been a surge of interest in this trip and I expect it to fill up this week. Don’t miss out! If your parents cannot attend they should contact Mr. Klakovich.

Congratulations to the DECA Club students that attended District competitions at the Wicker Center, Thursday, December 15. Everyone did a terrific job.

The following DECA students were recognized for the following honors: Cole Phillips, Taylor Gosk, Mack Linstead and Pierre Perrin took the top award for their category. Kirby Thornton was awarded an amazing award... 3rd overall.

There were over 400 students from the triad competing in DECA Districts...please congratulate these students for their amazing accomplishment. Go Jags!

Home Varsity Basketball tonight vs Orange Varsity Women at 6:00pm and varsity men at 7:30pm.  JV Teams are at Orange 5pm/6:30pm    Go Jags!

No acting or dance experience required! Classes are December 19 - 22 and January 3 - 6 from 4:30 - 6:30 PM in the Blackbox (C114). Scholarships are available. If interested, sign up on the link in the announcements email by this Friday, December 9th.
