Attention Summer Nicaragua Travelers. There will be a short meeting TODAY during B lunch in Mr. Klakovich’s room (D214) This is an important meeting so please do not miss it! If you have not yet signed up for our summer service trip to Nicaragua, there are still a couple spots left so come to our meeting TODAY at lunch for more information. Partial scholarships available.
  

Carrboro High School Theatre presents our winter production, The Little Prince, this Friday and Saturday, January 29th - 30th at 7:30 PM, with a matinee on Sunday, January 31st at 2:30 PM in the CHS Auditorium.  Tickets can be purchased at seatyourself.biz/jagtheatre and are $5 for students, $10 for adults, and free for CHCCS faculty and staff.  The play is appropriate for all ages and will run close to an hour and a half.



There will be an Eco-Action work day today after school. If you’ve never helped us out it’s not too late to start. Help us build the CHS Community Garden. Meet in the courtyard right after school. We are a very chill group so come hang out with us!


Interested in going to the Dominican Republic after school is out in June? There will be a great cultural exchange and you will have a chance to connect with the community that CHS fundraised last year for the Water Project and the province where the Muralist are from. SENIORS! The deadline for senior recognition and business advertisements for the yearbook has been extended through January 31st. You may submit this in either of two ways: 1) design and submit online before Tuesday, February 1st. 2) complete this form and return it to the Main Office, Attn: The Rosetta, by Friday, January 29th. UNC Health Care is offering free sports physicals Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016 for all Carrboro High School students.  For more information go to CHS Website - Athletics.

Registration for the 2016 NC DECA State Competition (also known as the “Career Development Conference”) is officially open, and all Carrboro High School students can participate! So, If you want to meet new people from across the state, compete for awards, scholarships, possibly win a chance to participate in the International Conference in Nashville, TN this year, or just want a Thursday and Friday away from school, register for this event!


Model UN Opportunity @ Duke! - Our CHS Model UN club has an upcoming conference at Duke University that has a few open spots left that we are trying to fill. If you are unfamiliar with Model UN but are interested in global topics and politics/government, this would be a great opportunity to get your feet wet! This opportunity would include missing 1 day of school and would also have some financial cost to you. NON-club members have an opportunity to participate for only $40! You also would be working in pairs -- so it would be very low-pressure :) Here is a link to the schedule for the conference! If you are even a little interested let Mr. Schendt know! We are having a meeting tomorrow during A-lunch in my room as well, so feel free to stop by!

Wrestling Senior Night is tonight at 7:30pm vs Jordan Matthews, support your Jaguars and the Class of 2016.

The Mid-State Conference Swim Championship will be tonight at Homestead Aquatic Center beginning at 5:30pm, support your Jaguars! Keep the win streak alive!

Student Announcements for Wednesday, Jan. 13th

Good morning!


Reminder: there is a Grade-level Assembly for SENIORS during A-lunch today. Due to the assembly there is a closed campus during lunch today.


Students are able to access Attendance Appeal Forms through Friday, Jan. 15th.  These forms are available in the Main Office, CIC and on the CHS website.


The Eco-Action club is sponsoring a Garden Tool Drive this week. We need all sorts of garden tools to help us work in our new CHS garden. Please support our garden by asking your parents to bring new or used tools or donations in the drop-off circle before or after school this week. (No power tools please) Teachers can bring tools to Mr. Klakovich in room D214


"Artists, we need your help! Make a T-Shirt design for Project Graduation. If yours is chosen, you will win a prize! The theme is Zero “Grad”vity and the deadline is January 22. Designs can be submitted electronically (see the Project Graduation website for the email address) or turned in to Ms. Schraeder in the arts wing. Please visit the website for details so your design follows the rules."

Our very own Emma Friedman will be here today in the CIC during lunch to talk about United World College!!
UWC is a two year boarding school program that brings students from across the world together to share their ideas, beliefs, and cultures, while earning the international baccalaureate diploma. It is an opportunity to challenge yourself academically and personally, to form friendships with peers from 70 different countries, and to learn more about yourself in the process. Emma will be talking about her personal experience at UWC, the mission, and how to apply if you're interested.
