February is Career Technical Education Month!  For nearly a century, Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs from across the United States have focused on equipping students with the technical and life skills to help them become productive and successful citizens.  Today, CTE is a major part of the solution to myriad national and economic workforce problems, such as high school dropout rates, a weakened economy, global competitiveness and massive lay-offs.  CTE is for all students and offers 16 Career Clusters with rigorous and relevant curriculum.  Help us Celebrate Career Technical Educationt his month at Carrboro High School.

Nicaragua has been hurt by decades of poor farming practices and civil war. Now people there are suffering from poverty and respiratory illness as a result. Help us teach them about biointensive agriculture techniques. This is a difficult and rewarding summer trip that will involve a homestay. (and a swim in a volcano as well) Look for us during lunch in the commons tomorrow if you want to find out more. We are looking for 3 more people. Partial scholarships are available.

UNC Health Care is offering free sports physicals Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016 for all Carrboro High School students.  For more information go to CHS Website - Athletics.

Spring Sports begin Feb. 15, if you plan to tryout, you must be eligible by NCHSAA rules, register online and submit a current physical.

Jags! Remember to purchase your Snowball tickets at lunch through February 12! Tickets are 1 for $15 and 2 for $20! Come out on Valentine's day for a night of fun!

Good morning Carrboro High School, my name is Monroe Clayton. February is Black History Month. Throughout this month, we will honor a new generation of black leaders and black poets on the announcements. Each day, we will celebrate the legacy of black Americans through either the reading of a poem or of a brief bio of an inspirational black figure.
