Good morning Carrboro High School, my name is Trenton Davis. February is Black History Month. Throughout this month, we honored a new generation of black leaders and black poets on the announcements. Each day, we celebrated the legacy of black Americans through either the reading of a poem or of a brief bio of an inspirational black figure.

For our last day of celebrating Black History month, we would like to remind our students to think critically about the systems in place around them. Our final quote comes to us from influential African-American writer and thinker, James Baldwin.

I love America more than any other country in this world, and, exactly for this reason, I insist on the right to criticize her perpetually.”
Thank you for helping us to honor some of the poetry, literature, and lives of black Americans throughout this month.
