Good morning Carrboro
High School, my name is JahNea Darby. February is Black History Month.
Throughout this month, we will honor a new generation of black leaders and
black poets on the announcements. Each day, we will celebrate the legacy of
black Americans through either the reading of a poem or of a brief bio of an
inspirational black figure.

Cornel West is one of
the most influential black speakers, activists, and thinkers of our time. He
was the first African American ever to earn a PhD from Princeton University in
Philosophy. West is a frequent commentator for news outlets and an expert in African
