High-achieving 9th and 10th graders:  the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics (NCSSM) is an unparalleled opportunity for academic and personal growth, particularly for students pursuing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education.  There will be a representative from NCSSM at CHS on Thurs. 10/17 to meet with interested students during lunch in the bandroom. You apply during your 10th grade year, but we invite 9th graders to hear about the opportunity, too.  See Mr. Harkey with any questions beforehand.

Motivated 10th and 11th graders: Middle College is a way for students to earn a career certificate, transferable college credits, or even a full Associate's degree FOR FREE while completing high school. If you are interested in learning more about Middle College or how to apply, please see their website and email Mr. Harkey. There will be an on-campus information session Thurs. 11/7 during lunch.  Min. 2.5 unweighted GPA.

All students, especially seniors:  have you considered teaching as a career?  If you have any interest, you should attend an interest meeting this fall to hear from some of your CHS teachers who have gone through the NC Teaching Fellows program, which provides up to $8,250/yr in forgivable loans and unique training and enrichment opportunities.  Email Mr. Harkey - mharkey@chccs.k12.nc.us - to indicate your interest, and we will follow up about the interest meeting.

A representative from Bowdoin College will visit Carrboro High School Wednesday, Oct 16th at 2:30pm.  Sign up in the CIC to attend the visit.

SERVICE LEARNING:  My name is Kay Edwards, and I am going to be the Service Learning Contact for Carrboro High School, grades 9-11. Mondays and Tuesdays

October 21,22-TBD  I'll either be in the CIC or in the Common Area

If you have had difficulty getting into LetServe, please be sure to do the following as this may solve any issues you have had with submitting your hours:

1. Download the newest version of LetServe.  An email was sent to all students last summer to do this in order to be able to use the program.

2. Reset your password Please note: you must enter the new password as written. You also need to open a new window of Letserve before entering your information.

Please feel free to stop by at your convenience during the dates and times mentioned above.  I look forward to meeting you.

Hey Jags! CultureFest is coming up soon! It's time to start working on your submissions for the CultureFest Film Showcase.
