Student Announcements: October 10, 2018

Due to testing today, SkillsUSA will meet in Ms. Landis' Room, E115, during lunch on Thursday beginning @ 12:40 pm. All students interested in participating in SkillsUSA this year should attend.


A representative from Washington State University in St. Louis will be in the CIC on Friday, Oct. 12 at 1:30pm. Sign up in the CIC if interested.


NC Free College Application Week is next week from Oct 15-19 in the CHS Media Center. Please sign up for an application session using the link in your email. See your email for an informational flyer, and feel free to contact someone in the CIC with any questions.


There will be a meeting of the National Honor Society Thursday at lunch in Rubenstein's room (D218). ALL folks interested in holding an office MUST be in attendance and ready to present to the members with a brief overview of your ideas and plans for the office you are seeking and an overall vision for NHS at CHS this school year.


The Media Center will be closed today for testing and half the day on tomorrow for PSAT testing.

YLI will meet tomorrow,  Thursday, October 11th during lunch for its second meeting in Mr. Murchinson's Room, room D217. We'll have a guest speaker and there will be an opportunity to receive a $10 gift card for participating in a study!


Current 9th and 10th graders:  the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics (NCSSM) is an unparalleled opportunity for academic and personal growth, particularly for students pursuing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education.  There will be a representative from NCSSM at CHS next Wed. 10/17 to meet with interested students during lunch. You apply during your 10th grade year. You must sign up for the visit beforehand in the Student Services suite.  See Mr. Harkey to further discuss.


Students do you think you have the best PJs outfit? Submit your name and photo of the outfit by 4pm to Mr Severance through email to be entered into a raffle. Every submission gets a ticket and the winner will receive 5 tickets. The final raffle will be drawn at the football game Friday night with prizes including gift cards, gift baskets from some of your favorite departments, and the amazing treat cart from Mrs Barry's class.


Tomorrow is Jersday Thursday!!! Wear your favorite team jersey.


Are you interested in participating in the games at the pep rally this week? Sign ups will be at the SGA table Wednesday through Thursday. Winners of the games will also be entered into the homecoming raffle.

The CHS Minority Student Union hosts the 1st Annual Tailgate Kickoff at the Homecoming game this Friday, October 12, from 4:30-6:45 p.m. College Application info will be provided, as well as hot dogs, burgers, and drinks.  Please bring your families and a side dish to share!


If you are a junior and you are interested in planning prom, come to the Junior Class Council meeting Friday, Oct 12th in E220.
