Student Announcements for Thursday, May 21st

Any students interested in being a part of the DECA Executive Council next year should see Mr. McSwain during SMART Lunch Tuesday, May 26th for more details on the election process.

Today’s after-school tutorial session will be the last one for the school year, so please adjust your calendars.

Senior CPR will take place following assembly practice this Thursday.  If you had Matt Russell at Culbreth for PE in 8th grade please check in with Nurse Watson or Ms. Brooks to confirm.  Also, if you have had CPR training and can provide documentation within the past 4 years, please bring that information to Nurse Watson  as soon as possible.

We are doing a campaign "Spread the Word to End the Word".  The "R" word is "retard" when it's used to insult others.   When it's used as an insult, it hurts our feelings.   People with Intellectual Disabilities are as important as anyone else.   Please accept the pledge of the r-word.   Go on the internet to take the pledge.  It takes less than a minute!  http://www.r-word.org/r-word-take-action.aspx#.VVNZYvm-2m4   Click on the orange "Pledge and be Heard" box.   We hope you take the pledge and never say the R-word again!

Registration for the summer classes of Driver Education begins today, Tuesday, May 13 and closes on June 2nd.  Registration forms can be found in Ms. Lombardi's office and you can download them online.  Registration is based on first come basis and oldest to youngest.  The summer classes are limited so make your summer plans for Driver's Education now!

"Researchers from UNC and RTI Inc are conducting some brief research during the lunch hour today, Thursday, May 21.  The research consists of using a school lunch pre-ordering website, giving them feedback, and completing a brief, 10-question survey to give us your opinion.  Participation is anonymous, should take 15 minutes or less, and each participant will receive a $25 Amazon gift card for their time.  We can only take 5 students, and we'll schedule them on a first-come, first-served basis.  If you're interested, emaillunch101.carrboro@gmail.com or call or text (980) 320-0655."

The Dominican Republic Water Project fundraising so far has gotten us to about $9,100 out of our goal of at least $15,000.  On the night of May 26th (a Tuesday) from 6pm to 8pm, we are hosting a Silent Auction & Mural Unveiling with an evening of Art, Music, Food and Fellowship. we are currently soliciting items for the Silent Auction.
