Student announcements - Feb. 3, 2017


Good morning,


PICA (The Printing Industries of the Carolinas) in celebrating 51 years of graphic design and print excellence, recognized students enrolled in Carrboro High School's Adobe Visual Design classes with 11 PICA Student Awards.
Please join me in congratulating the following CHS students whose work has earned them a PICA Student Award: 
Alon Person, Erez Person, Hayden Bunce, Akiyoshi Yamamoto, Miranda Tiemann, Christopher Soden, Nick Datto, Cole Hayden, Samuel Rodriguez, Nina Scott-Farquharson, Roman Perone, Kim Zan, Karim-Abdul Tunau Spencer, Alexis Lewis, Elizabeth Horne and Mateo Echeverry. 
In addition, Alon Person's entry, Journal for Heroes, was one of the three finalists for Best of High School Division, which included high school entries from 25 categories.

SkillsUSA will meet this Friday during B Lunch in E115. SkillsUSA meetings are held every week during B Lunch in E115.

"CHS is partnering with East and Chapel Hill for the 2017 Dance Marathon for Charity! Join us on February 18th, from 6 to 12PM at East Chapel Hill High for an awesome, non-stop night of dancing, food and activities. Tickets will be sold in the front of the Library on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Complementary food, games, and a Dance Marathon T-shirt are included with the purchase of your ticket. Tickets are now $30 but will go up next week, so make sure you buy your tickets before the price goes up!"


The Freshman Class Council is looking for a talented freshman to design our Class of 2020 t-shirts. If you are interested in creating a design, please email Taylor Gwynne for more information.


Students VS Faculty Basketball Game!
Celebrating Carrboro High School’s 10th Anniversary with a Faculty vs. Student basketball game.
Date of Game: March 3rd, last period of the day.
Where: Carrboro High School Gymnasium
Practice time: Teachers and students can practice starting Tuesday Jan 31st, in the gym during B LUNCH. Practice will continue on Tuesdays B LUNCH all through February.

CHS will celebrate its annual CommUnity Dinner on Wednesday, February 8, from 6-8 pm. Dinner is a catered event that will begin at 6, followed by student and area community leader speakers expressing what CHS has meant to them over the past 10 years. Help us celebrate our CHS CommUnity!


If you're looking for after-school homework help, Blue Ribbon Mentor-Advocate is offering tutoring every Tuesday night from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at Hargraves Community Center.
