Student Announcements: February 22, 2019

February is CTE Month and to express the importance of our CTE programs here at CHS the CTE department has joined forces to celebrate the value of CTE and the achievements and accomplishments of our CTE programs and students. Each week in the month of February the CTE department will showcase one of its four program areas. Be sure to engage and support our CTE Month celebrations!


Need service hours?  Come to the Theater after school this week or next to help work on our spring musical, Into the Woods.  Check JagTheatre's schedule for ways that you can get involved.  No experience needed, just a willingness to work and learn new things.


Come out Wednesday evening to learn about all that Durham Technical Community College has to offer. There will be a lot of information about earning college credit while in high school. 6 pm in the media center.


Do you need Service Learning Hours? Special Olympics of Orange County needs your help for their Basketball Tournament / Potluck Dinner / Dance on Saturday, February 23rd!  Use the  links to sign up for volunteering, potluck food donations, and for financial donations.

The Media Center is closed today through Friday, February 22nd due to ACT and ACCESS testing.  Please plan accordingly.


Winter Sports Awards will be held on Monday Feb. 25 at 7pm in the auditorium. Please dress appropriately.


Congratulations to the Jaguar Men's Basketball Team, we defeated Reidsville last night 68-59, advancing to the Mid-State conference Tournament finals. Tonight, we play Bartlett Yancey at Cummings HS, game time is 7:30pm for the tournament championship. Good Luck! Go Jags!

 

The Student Choice Program is here!  Students will be encouraged to 'voice their choice' by tasting new recipes and  voting on favorite foods to eat in the cafeteria Today is the last day to vote! Click here for more information or contact Liz Cartano.

 

The following colleges will have representatives present on Thursday, February 28th to meet with students during lunch from 12:30 to 1:10 in the CHS commons.  This is a great opportunity for CHS juniors to meet with representatives as they narrow their college search.

Do you know what to do when you and your friends are stopped by a police officer?  Do you know if you have a right to record what's happening? Blue Ribbon is hosting a Know Your Rights workshop event this Saturday at Carrboro High from 10am-2pm. This is a great opportunity to know your rights when interacting with law enforcement.
