Student Announcements: January 31, 2019

February is CTE Month and to express the importance of our CTE programs here at CHS the CTE department has joined forces to celebrate the value of CTE and the achievements and accomplishments of our CTE programs and students. Each week in the month of February the CTE department will showcase one of its four program areas. Be sure to engage and support our CTE Month celebrations!


Tomorrow is the last day to register to take the ASVAB test to be given on Friday, February 8 at 9 am. Register by going to the posted link http://bit.ly/2VzimKd.


Applications for CCP at Durham Tech are available in the box outside of Ms. Coley's office in the CIC. Return completed applications to Ms. Coley ASAP.

It is that time of year again! The annual SGA Winterlinks Fundraiser is back. This year SGA is partnering with Dixon High School to donate to Hurricane Florence victims. Today is the last day to donate money to help the cause in your fourth period classes. The class that has collected the most money will receive free Sunrise Biscuits!


Blue Ribbon Youth Leadership Institute will have a meeting today during lunch in Room D217 with Sonny Kelly, a talented and local playwright and comedian, as the guest speaker. Snacks will be provided

Did you know that Carrboro has its very own robotics team competing in the First Robotics national competition come March 8th? In order to compete and do well in competition team Carrboro Robotics needs one of you to drive the robot at a high level while under intense pressure. If you are interested in trying out come to Dr. Arthurs room today after school. It is the first day of open tryouts!

Spring Sports Registration is open until February 12. Spring Sports tryouts will begin on February 13, 2019.  Register online at https://www.carrborojaguars.com  Must have a current physical exam and complete concussion form before trying out.

Since 1966, the PICA (Printing Industries of the Carolinas) Awards have been the premier symbol of excellence for the graphics industry in the Carolinas. Winning a PICA Award is a great honor!

It is that time of year again! The annual SGA Winterlinks Fundraiser is back. This year SGA is partnering with Dixon High School to donate to Hurricane Florence victims. From now until the end of January, you can donate money to help the cause in your fourth period classes. The class that has collected the most money will receive free Sunrise Biscuits!


Are you ready to dance away the winter blues? Friday January 25 will be the Carrboro High School's Winter formal here in the commons from 8-11. Tickets for Snowball go on sale today at lunch 1 for $15 or 2 for $20.


Congratulations to Sgt. Grant Mayfield for earning his School Resource Officer Certificate.  Sgt. Mayfield is one of only 237 officers in the State of North Carolina to earn his SRO certificate by completing more than 400 hours of training through the NC Justice Academy.  Congratulate him and ask to see his award!

Blue Ribbon Youth Leadership Institute (YLI) will kick off its first meeting of 2019 Thursday during lunch in D217! We will have a former YLI student as our guest speaker who will share their experience with YLI and how it helped prepare them for college and answer any questions students may have. Snacks will be provided


Stop by the US Marines table in the commons at lunch today. The Coast Guard will visit tomorrow during lunch.

Spring Sports Registration is open until February 12. Spring Sports tryouts will begin on February 13, 2019.  Register online at https://www.carrborojaguars.com  Must have a current physical exam and complete concussion form before trying out.

Submit all forms to Coach Ross or upload the documents when you register.  Spring Sports Ticket to Play will begin Feb. 4-7 at lunch in the Commons. NO TICKET=NO TRY-OUT.
