Student Announcements: March 22, 2019

All National Honor Society Seniors must purchase graduation cords BY THE  END OF THE DAY. See Ms. Barkdollini outside the Media Center before school and at lunch. The order will be sent next week and no further orders will be placed.


Please listen carefully to this important announcement from our School Nurse: We are at the height of flu season.  If you are not feeling well please stay home. If you have any of the following symptoms, you should stay home or if already at school go home.  Fever or feeling feverish/chills. cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, headaches, fatigue (tiredness), nausea, vomiting or diarrhea. If you have a fever you must be stay home for 24 hours after the fever breaks. It is the only way we can stop viruses from spreading.


Prom is April 13th at the Governor's Club. Purchase your prom tickets for $45 per person this week during lunch OR online. The cost will go up to $50 after spring break. If the cost of a ticket would prevent you from attending prom, see April Crider in the CIC for information about reduced ticket prices.


Are you a Junior or Senior who wants to attend Prom on April 13th but can't afford the cost of the dress?  Cinderella's Closet is here for you! Cinderella's Closet offers a full prom gown package for free! Please see Ms. Crider in Student Services to get an application.  Applications are due on April 2nd.


The CHS Quizbowl team is hosting a Student vs Staff trivia competition on Friday April 5th, in the library, if you are interested in facing off against your teachers in a battle of wits? Sign up now through the link in your email Quiz Bowl Sign up Form



The Red Cross Club is holding a Blood Drive on April 4th. Visit the table in front of the Media Center during lunch for details!


The JagWire is accepting applications for new staff writers. In this elective course, you will be part of a student-run newspaper and online news source. Newspaper is a great class to seek leadership opportunities and grow authentically as a writer. If you are interested in applying, visit chsjagwire.org for a link to the application or talk to Mr. Lourens in room D221.



Wanna get published? Jagged Lines, the Carrboro High School literary magazine, is currently accepting submissions for the Spring 2019 edition. Send your short stories, poems, visual art, photography, and other publishable works to CHSJaggedLines@gmail.com. Today is the last day for submissions. Feel free to email if you have questions.


OWASA's new Youth Water Academy. Students in grades 9-12 in Carrboro & Chapel Hill are invited to apply. Over 4 sessions in April, they'll learn from OWASA's engineers, operators, scientists, field crews and more, about the fascinating process of delivering the community's water. The Academy is free, and 12 spots are open. Deadline to apply is March 26.
