Student Announcements: March 13, 2019

Please listen carefully to this important announcement from our School Nurse: We are at the height of flu season.  If you are not feeling well please stay home. If you have any of the following symptoms, you should stay home or if already at school go home.  Fever or feeling feverish/chills. cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, headaches, fatigue (tiredness), nausea, vomiting or diarrhea. If you have a fever you must be stay home for 24 hours after the fever breaks. It is the only way we can stop viruses from spreading.


You're invited to Carrboro High's spring musical, Into the Woods, Thursday, March 14th through Saturday, March 16th at 7:30 PM.  Tickets are $5 for students, $10 for adults, and free for CHCCS Faculty and Staff.  Tickets can be purchased at jagtheatre.seatyourself.biz.  CHCCS Faculty and Staff can reserve your one free ticket at https://tinyurl.com/chccsemployee.


Are you a Junior or Senior who wants to attend Prom on April 13th but can't afford the cost of the dress?  Cinderella's Closet is here for you! Cinderella's Closet offers a full prom gown package for free! Please see Ms. Crider in Student Services to get an application.  Applications are due on April 2nd.


It's not too late to participate in the Blue Ribbon Youth Leadership Institute! YLI [pronounced why-lie] will have a meeting on Thursday, March 14th in room D217. Join us for snacks and conversations about healthy relationships and teen dating violence awareness facilitated by the Orange County Rape Crisis Center. Come out and audition for Xanadu Productions Theatre 4 show, "A Tiny Miracle with a Fiberoptic Unicorn." Auditions are Monday the 18th and Tuesday the 19th from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Blackbox. You only have to come to one audition date. Callbacks will be on Wednesday the 20th from :00-7:00 PM, in the Blackbox. Please prepare a 1-minute, contemporary, comedic monologue. Wanna get published? Jagged Lines, the Carrboro High School literary magazine, is currently accepting submissions for the Spring 2019 edition. Send your short stories, poems, visual art, photography, and other publishable works to CHSJaggedLines@gmail.com. The submission deadline had been extended to March 22nd. Feel free to email if you have questions about submissions.


March is National Athletic Training Month! As stated before, athletic trainers work in various settings. By the year 2022, the Marine Corps plans to employ more than 60 athletic trainers in the operating forces!


The RTP High School Sailing Team is looking for new sailors!

Are you a fearless mariner? Did you ever try sailing at summer camp? Have you always wanted to learn to sail? If your answer is yes to any of these - and you know how to swim! - then consider joining our co-ed high school sailing team!

The Spring season starts March 12. Practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 (or as soon as you can arrive) until dark at Lake Crabtree County Park, 1400 Aviation Parkway, Morrisville, NC. Carpooling is possible. Fee is prorated to $150 for Spring season.

Schools in the district are currently competing in a food drive to help families in the local area. Help us win the competition against the other schools by bringing in canned or non-perishable goods and placing them in the box outside the Media Center. This is a great opportunity to make an impact on the local community. If you have any questions please contact Mr Severance.


Travel Opportunity for Summer 2019 or 2020! Through CIEE's Summer Abroad programs, you have access to a life-changing experience. For 3 or 4 weeks this summer, you can step into another culture and learn a new language, engage in meaningful service projects, or to dive into global discovery in fields such as marine ecology, biodiversity & conservation, arts, government or global entrepreneurship. Scholarships are available for our programs, based on both merit and financial need. An informational session that will be held this Thursday during lunch in Room E218. A representative from CIEE will be here to share more information about their program.
