A Message from Principal LaVerne Mattocks for the week of September 22 - 26

Hello.  This is Principal LaVerne Mattocks with updates for Carrboro High School families. This past week, Carrboro High School hosted a productive Open House/Back to School Night.  It was rewarding to greet all the parents and guardians in attendance and the teachers enjoyed sharing pertinent course expectations as well. Carrboro High School appreciates the assistance from the Career Information Center, PTSA, System-Level class, and our SGA in making Open House/Back to School Night possible.  Thank you to all the faculty and staff who ran last Tuesday like a marathon day for our families' benefit.  Additionally, we followed a new format for Jaguar Jump-In, and once again, it was a success.  Thank you to everyone, including our SGA Officers and faculty sponsors, for a job well-done.

Announcements:
Thursday, September 25, is a Teacher Workday for CHCCS students.  There is no school on Thursday, September 25, 2014. Friday, September 26, classes will resume on regular schedule.

If you are interested in volunteering at Carrboro High School, or have any questions about the school, feel free to contact us at (919)918-2200.  Thank you for your attention.

PROJECT GRADUATION 2015 FAQs

PROJECT GRADUATION 2015 FAQs
What is Project Graduation?
A wonderful tradition for over 20 years, Project Graduation or “PG” is an annual gift from the community to all Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools’ high school graduates. PG is a free, all-night, non-alcohol and substance-free celebration with music, games, amazing door prizes, scholarships, scrumptious food and much, much more!
When and Where is Project Graduation?
The 2015 event is to be held at the UNC Student Union on Saturday, June 13th from 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
Who attends Project Graduation?
All CHS, CHHS, ECHHS, and PAHS Seniors are invited to attend and each may bring one guest. Over 70% of seniors attend each year.
How can CHS students and parents support Project Graduation?
There are at least three ways to help!
NOTE: PG volunteer hours are eligible for student Service Learning credit! PG is a fun and rewarding way for CHS students of any grade level to accumulate required service learning hours.
  • 1) Volunteer to be on the PG Steering Committee! PG is run by student leaders (and supporting parents) from each high school. The work is done by committee so that volunteers may choose an area of interest and the work is distributed among many. There are opportunities to meet anyone’s needs, interests and time constraints. The following committees are available:
    • Set-up
    • Food
    • Prizes
    • Acknowledgements
    • Fundraising
    • Publicity
    • Clean-up
    • Monitors
    • T-shirts
    • Decorations
    • Printing/Mailing
    • Volunteer coordinators
    • Entertainment
    • Program
    • Webmaster

Steering committee meetings take place once per month starting on Monday October 6th at 7:00 PM in the ECHHS slant room.
  • 2) Volunteer at the event! As the 2015 event nears, you will hear about opportunities to help on the day of the event. In the meantime, you may visit the PG website to sign up to volunteer.

  • 3) Make a donation! Contributions are tax deductible and should be mailed to:
