Winter Links has officially started! Winter Links is a yearly fundraiser put on by Student Government in order to spread holiday cheer around the CHS community. This year, the fundraiser will run from November 28th- December 22nd. Money will be collected during fourth period classes. This year, we are raising money for graduated CHS Karen refugee students to take a trip back to their homes in Thailand and Burma. The class who fundraises the most money wins a prize breakfast. Happy holidays! 

Interested in dance? Want to prep for "Cinderella" auditions? Join CHS Theatre for our annual Dance for the Actor Workshop. Classes are $5 per class or $40 for the whole session. No acting or dance experience required! Classes are December 19 - 22 and January 3 - 6from 4:30 - 6:30 PM in the Blackbox (C114). Scholarships are available. If interested, sign up on the link in the announcements email by this Friday, December 9th. 

There will be a mandatory “mentors only” meeting for the Peer Buddy program on Monday, Dec. 12th during B lunch in E114.  This is the official monthly meeting where we share success stories, discuss concerns/issues,  and/or provide updates.  All mentors of the Peer Buddy program are expected/required to attend.  

This is a reminder for DECA members that are competing in the District Competition. Please go to the Media Center during 3rd and 4th period today, December 6 for your first opportunity for placement testing. If you have any questions see Ms. Francis in D212.

Get the most out of your summer! Learn about this year’s trip to Ecuador this Friday at lunch in Mr. Klakovich’s room D214.  Don’t put it off because the trip is filling up.

Good morning,

*There will be a women's soccer interest meeting on Dec. 14 in the weight room at the beginning of lunch.

*The Eco-Action club meets every Monday after school in our beautiful community garden behind the D wing. Come on by and help us create a beautiful garden at CHS!

*Want to earn service hours, practice your Spanish, or just up for an incredible adventure? You should seriously link about joining us on our trip to Ecuador this coming summer. There are still spots left but we are going to try to fill them before winter break. There will be an lunch interest meeting this week. Stay tuned or talk to Mr. Klakovich if you are interested.

*The Red Cross club will be hosting a drive for Hurricane Matthew victims. Items we're collecting are cleaning supplies, washcloths/towels, bottled water, new socks, soap/shampoo/deodorant, toothbrushes/toothpaste, books/games, and canned goods. The drive will go through -December 15. Students and parents can drop off items in the front roundabout in the mornings and at lunch in front of the library.

Thanks for a great presence for the Great American Smokeout  - committing to quit tobacco products for a day or NEVER STARTING! 80% of students who start wish they hadn’t!  Madisyn Atwater & Zeke Leone are the winners of our raffle! Pick up your gift cards of choice in Student Services with Linda Karcher. Congrats!

Tickets are $5 for students and 10$ for adults or FREE if you bring an item to donate to The Homestart Shelter for women and children. Visit the Girls Give Back Facebook page for info on what items to bring.  All proceeds will be donated!

*Mark your calendars for the 2016 CultureFest, Colors of the World, which is coming up on Thursday, December 1st from six to eight PM here at Carrboro High School! The potluck starts at six followed by entertainment at seven. Bring your favorite family or cultural dish and the recipe, and if you are interested in performing contact Ms. Johnson as soon as possible to sign up! Remember to ask your foreign language teacher about an opportunity for extra credit!
