SGA's Annual Winter Links fundraising campaign is under way!  Winter Links will run throughout the entirety of January and is an initiative to raise money for local charities and unite our school in giving back.  This year we will be collecting and raising money during 5th period classes and the funds raised will be used to support "Positive Impact for Kids" - an organization that was created by our very own Leanne Joyce.  Bring in your spare change and support your community Jaguars!

Our French Exchange Program with the La Rochelle school is taking place this April, just after spring break. Are you interested in making new friends and hosting a French student in April? Do not worry if you can’t speak French, they speak English. Please come to an informational meeting in Room E117 this upcoming Thursday, January 14th at 6.00pm. You and your parents can receive more details about this wonderful experience at this meeting.

Spring Sports begin Feb. 15, if you plan to tryout, you must be eligible by NCHSAA rules, register online and submit a current physical.

Do you want to show the world your appreciation for a teacher, friend, or "bae"? The JagWire is publishing a limited amount of compliments (anonymous or not) in our Valentine’s Day issue! Just email your compliment to chsjagwirenewspaper@gmail.com. 25-character compliments for $3, 26-55 characters for $5, and 56 or more characters for $8. Deadline Jan. 21st!

Registration for the 2016 NC DECA State Competition (also known as the “Career Development Conference”) is officially open, and all Carrboro High School students can participate! So, If you want to meet new people from across the state, compete for awards, scholarships, possibly win a chance to participate in the International Conference in Nashville, TN this year, or just want a Thursday and Friday away from school, register for this event!

The dates are March 10^th through the 12^th, and the registration fee is $200 ($220 for non-DECA members). A parents’/guardians’/custodians’ meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 20^th in the Media Center from 5:30pm-6:30pm. See Mr. McSwain in Room E115 to pick up your permission slip today!

Spring Sports begin Feb. 15, if you plan to tryout, you must be eligible by NCHSAA rules, register online and submit a current physical.

Interested in going to the Dominican Republic after school is out in June? There will be a great cultural exchange and you will have a chance to connect with the community that we fundraised last year for the Water Project. Please come to an interest meeting in E224 during A or B lunch on Friday January 8th.

Our very own Emma Friedman will be here today in the CIC during lunch to talk about United World College!!

UWC is a two year boarding school program that brings students from across the world together to share their ideas, beliefs, and cultures, while earning the international baccalaureate diploma. It is an opportunity to challenge yourself academically and personally, to form friendships with peers from 70 different countries, and to learn more about yourself in the process. Emma will be talking about her personal experience at UWC, the mission, and how to apply if you're interested.
